    Soda / beerline equation..

When you do a pour off a 25' line, wouldn't most of your pour just be the soda that's in the line? How much liquid can 25 feet of 3/16" hose hold?

Can I use a beer or wine tap/faucet for dispensing soda?

I can get beer taps to give good soda pours as long as I have the serving pressure set really, really low. Lower it to about 5psi or lower. Just enough to push the beer out. Regular serving pressure for beer (8-10psi) is just too fast and generates too much foam.

Johnson Controls Dig. Temp. Control Not Working?

Just tried the lamp test, and it didn't turn it on. When I plugged it in it displayed "C03" or "CO3" then did the thing where it flashes "Asd" and the temperature, and then seemed to operate normally, but wouldn't turn on the lamp. Got the little snowflake and stuff so I assume it's set on...

Johnson Controls Dig. Temp. Control Not Working?

Thanks for the replies! I'll give the test with the lamp a shot. I know it's not the freezer, just because the freezer comes on when I plug it directly in the outlet without the controller connected.

Johnson Controls Dig. Temp. Control Not Working?

Hey guys, I bought a Johnson Controls digital temperature controller from Northern Brewer about three months ago. Worked great when I got it, but suddenly stopped working in the last week or so. :( http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/johnson-controls-a419-digital-temp-controller.html It...

Danby 10.2 (DCFM289WDD) Keezer Build Thread

Wow, thanks for the info! I haven't had a chance to work on my keezer yet, but this will be really helpful for when I go to do the collar. I'm still debating if I want to sand the corners to match the round edges of the wood the way you did, or if I want to leave it squared off so I can use...

Danby 10.2 (DCFM289WDD) Keezer Build Thread

Hey, looks great! I can't wait to see it finished and hooked up! The metal paint did a great job of hiding the screw holes and joinery. It looks like a totally solid piece now. Really cool. I'm planning on something very similar, though I'll probably use a dark stain on the wood, and I need to...

    Why brewing kits?

I started out using kits when I started brewing, because nobody I knew had ever done any brewing and I was a complete novice. Since I had never done it before and didn't know about all the internet forums about the subject, having a set of instructions and ingredients took out a lot of the guess...

Danby 10.2 (DCFM289WDD) Keezer Build Thread

Awesome! I look forward to seeing more pics of your build. I picked up one of these freezers over the weekend from someone who was selling it on Craigslist for $190. They dropped it so one of the feet is bent and there's a big dent/warp in the front where the thermostat is, but it works and I...

Want to keg? Do it NOW!!!

If you want to try making your own sodas not-from-concentrate, this recipe for a lemongrass soda is really good: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f95/super-awesome-lemongrass-soda-186976/ Sort of like one of those flavored carbonated waters, but with a nice amount of sweetness to it. You can pick...

Want to keg? Do it NOW!!!

I've been working with a Frigidaire mini-fridge with all the shelves ripped out so I can jam 2 kegs in there with picnic taps. I'm buying a chest freezer this weekend so I can get more kegs and expand. With the ease of kegging I want to start toying with ciders, home-made sodas, and all kinds...

    Puddle in my keggerator

Great suggestion! I also have puddling, but never thought to put Damprid in the kegerator. I believe the liquid comes from the air. Even when it's pretty dry out, there's still a certain amount of moisture suspended in the air. When you open the kegerator moist air gets in, and then the cold...

Want to keg? Do it NOW!!!

THUMBS UP. Kegging is what really got me into the hobby. I always found brewing kind of a pain in the rear because of the messy, slow process of bottling. Once I got the equipment to start kegging I got really excited about making beer. It's so much faster, and force carbing really speeds...

Transferring Carbed Beer from keg to keg

I've transferred a carbed beer using the same method, and it worked fine. You could also do it with the lid off the receiving keg so you don't have to keep bleeding the pressure. I did a transfer that way and it also worked fine.
