Thanks Jafo28, those handle where custom made by my father and brother as a suprise birthday gift. I was putting labels on all my bottles that had a star as the main design/logo so they applied the design to the handles.
Just got my Keezer up and fully functional (minus drip tray). Currently is stocked with and ESB, Black Lager, IPA, and Lagering an American Lager. It has been difficult to not sample every day from each tap.
Last saturday, I brewed an IPA in which I miss calculated my boil off. I was left with 7-8 gallons. I put 6 in to my primary fermenter and pitch my starter. With the remaining 2 gallons I put it in my secondary but did not have any yeast to pitch. I was planning on getting yeast on Monday...
Yooper thanks for the pointers I figured I should have put my recipe on here for feedback, I learned alot from my first recipe I posted. Wyzazz this is the first batch were I added all my DME with 15 min left in the boil so that could have raised my volume. I also now wonder if not having the...
Thanks for the replies and advice. That makes sense about the percentage and that it would be easier to add water than having to much. My last batch require about a gallon and a half of top off water after a 60 min boil so I just went over this time.
YooperBrew, I realized after your...
Look for help in my routine to help standardize my results. Today I attempted a partial mash Imperial IPA. Here is the recipe I used
Amount Item Type % or IBU
7.00 lb Extra Light Dry Extract (3.0 SRM) Dry Extract 43.08 %
5.50 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 33.85 %
1.00 lb...
Scone, Thanks for the correction. I brewed this recipe this weekend and was short on my predicted OG. I tried to crush the grains myself despite everything I've read on this forum, and I think I did not get the grains fine enough. Good thing it was a partial so I still have a shot at having a...
Scone and Malkore thanks for the input.
For the diastatic power do i want to be as close to 30 as possible or is that a maximum. If I drop the oat down to 1/2 lb and add 1/2 a lb to the 2 Row that will bring me to 43 lintner per pound. Would this be a better adjustment for the recipe.
As...
I plan on starting into the world of partial mashes. The following recipe is a work in progress, my main concern is if I have enough grains to use convert the 1 lb of oats. Any other feed back would be greatly appreciated.
American Brown Ale
Type: Partial Mash
Batch Size: 5.50 gal...
BehrBrews from the Bay Area. This forum has helped me through my first beer a pale ale kit from the local homebrew store, and a blind pig clone in the fermentor. Im hooked and look forward to many years of making my own beer.:drunk:
