I understand not liking a certain beer due to taste but what exactly about being widely available is a turn off? Do you just have to consume something that no one else can?

+1 to perfecting the basic styles first before doing something weird like a bacon beer or something. I'm looking at you Darkhorse.

Something commercial would be nice. I'm a novice homebrewer and while I have tried something similar to a holiday porter, I wouldn't mind buying something either.

Thanks appreciate it. I am sure at some point the hipster train will decide porters are cool. I mean its ripe for it since it's "uncool" as you say and hipsters are always looking for the next big thing lol. But till that happens I guess I'll have to take matters into my own hands.
