You might also add more liquid gently to push the slick out the top or sanitized marbles until the slick is pushed out . Messy but effective I would think.

I have two wines going and a Sweet Mead in the bucket fermenting for a couple of weeks.
Tomorrow morning I am headed to Brew Your own Brew in Gilbert AZ for a class on Mead making from a recognized Mead maker .
