How many gallons of Brandon O's Graff have been made?

2196+5=2201 Made the recipe but with a LME and used German Brewers Gold 6.2% hops at .5 oz. May be a bit to much hop but we will see. Tasted great when added to carboy. I think this will be one of my favorites. Its a bit less harsh than Apfelwein. While I like Edworts recipe I like mine a...

My disastrous first rack to secondary

Alcohol will not kill any bug. Nursing student here so just fyi it will NOT kill everything!!! One in particular is Clostridium dificile....Spelling is incorrect but many bugs are alcohol tolerant. Just not many we encounter with our beer!

My disastrous first rack to secondary

Thats what I do. Makes more sense. I think of it like the honey/water example. One liquid is heavier than the other, the suger water is more than likely heavier so it would have the propensity to not mix as well if you just poured your beer over it. I will continue to stir. Its not like I am...

    Straining / Second fermenter

I wouldnt be leery of the extract. That is what I am using plus a bit of fruit. My take on extract: The extract is like a kick in the pants for your flavor. Many times when you add fruit the end result is a very lightly flavored beer. It takes a lot of fruit to flavor 5 gallons of brew.. Have...

    First Brew, no hydrometer

What does the kit recommend? Take that number and add a week or two..:) The beer is only going to get better with age. My first beer sat in Primary for 2 weeks, secondary 2 weeks and now have been bottle conditioning for 3 weeks. The beer gets better every week. In fact it was horrible the first...

    Straining / Second fermenter

From what I have read it is not necessary to rack to a secondary. It generally serves to clarify(clear up) your beer. With fruit beers, which I am making now, I will rack to a secondary with fruit in it just to get the most out of my fruit. Plus, fruit on top of trub makes for a real nasty...

My disastrous first rack to secondary

How do you mix your priming sugar up without stirring? Heck, I stir it well to make sure and get even carbing. Hope I am doing this right..

    Two Question--OG and Trub Filtering

Thanks for all the replies. I am hoping that I didnt mix it good enough. Easy to not do enough in a glass carboy. Now onto tomorrow....Pumpkin Ale Baby! Thanks to all that have brewed before me. You give me the confidence to no only brew but brew something worth drinking!

    Two Question--OG and Trub Filtering

Hey guys, Long time lurker first time poster. Love the site. More information that one guy can file in a lifetime. I have recently started brewing with only one batch behind me. It has turned out well, so with that success I started my second tonight. In my haste I may have made a few errors...
