I have to say, I enjoyed my first brew over the weekend. I was very happy with the results. Everyone else seemed to enjoy it too!

I seriously need to make the trip to Three Floyds. I live in the city, but a trip when the weather gets nice is now a must.

Phew - Good to know. I also was filling my bottles and the last bottle I was filling didnt fill all the way up. So guess what became the tester! I was actually pretty pleased. Really good taste for an uncarbonated beer, but would probably be much better when its cold and carbonated...

So I think I just screwed my batch up - and I didnt even realize until AFTER I bottled. I was re-reading the directions on my brew kit - and realized I DIDNT dissolve the Priming Sugar in water first! I mixed it in, and stirred it for about 3 minutes into the wort, then bottled. Should I...

I think that is what I will do for now. The american amber I am working on now has been in a little over a week - took the gravity yesterday and it looked spot on. It also had a great golden "amber" color. Surprisingly not as cloudy. I will be pulling that today probably and bottling...

That's what I figured. I can't wait to bottle - and even more, I can't wait to drink it!

So I took a hyrdo reading yesterday of my beer, and it was right on point. I quickly sealed it back up again though because I realized I wasnt going to have enough time to bottle like I had planned. However, I did notice then when I open the lid, the best smell came out. It actually smelled...

Ok, final question for the day. Is there any benefit (or particularly for the stouts) or is it necessary to use secondary fermenting?

Is it worth it to upgrade the yeast? I've done the dry yeast - which worked fine so far. But I have heard there are benefits to the Liquid yeasts..

I may or may not have just answered my own question. I think what I have brewing now is an Extract. Whats so, then what is the benefit of the Mini-Mash, if any?
