My First Attempt At Growing Hops.

My first year with cascade I jury rigged a large temporary arbor setup that was waaaayyy overkill. We got enough hops to fresh hop a few gallons of a cal common. I read, after the fact, that the first year hops grow they spend much of their energy on establishing the root/rhizome structure...

How long is your brew day?

4 lazy hours. However I prep the night before and finish cleanup the night after (1st pass rinse on brew day). I'm electric which saves me about about 45 min over propane. I also have a dedicated brew area which saved a ton of effort. I have a few improvements that would buy me more time...

    extending hop bines

This is good info. I never thought about them seeking out the sun. I will have to play with that. Thank you.

    extending hop bines

Another title could have been "my arbor is too short now what?" Or "will hop bines grow down?" Essentially my hops have grown to the top of the trellis and I'm wondering if I should do something. More specifically the question is should I run the twine back down to the ground and will the...

    Fitting help.....

A floating dip tube. Really looking for something relatively clean to make the transition. I've found stuff smaller but not for 3/4.

    Fitting help.....

This is my new "soon to be" fermenter. If you see the TC with the dip tube that's what I want to adapt to. In other words I want to cut it off and adapt an FST (floaty sucky thingy) to it. It is 316 stainless with a 3/4" OD. Any thoughts on a fitting that is a clean way to do this. I can...

Family Time - Bohemian Czech Pils | Grains to Glass | A Family Inspired Brew

Very cool. I recently did a Bohemian Pils to test my new condenser setup to see if it would manage dms odor. I didn't expect the beer to be anything special. It turned out to be one of my new favorites. It was a bit hoppier at 45 IBU's and not a smash but dam I loved it. Keep testing...

What is your home brewery's name?

The Brew Room at Big Lizard Industries. Still working on the logo but the name comes from the picture below. Thats my dad and and his car in the early 50's (ish). The lizard was drawn by my Aunt. Still working on the rest of the logo but I've had a dxf of the lizard created and a 3' version...

Top three effort and time improvements to your Biab setup

Yup. I passed on buying one for $35. Regret that decision ever since....

Top three effort and time improvements to your Biab setup

I was going to use an immersion chiller but I had a free braze plate and the immersion chiller makes it tougher to split the batch. I can see that an immersion chiller would be lower effort. I may still pick one up (if one of my buddies gets rid of one cheap) for batches I don't split

How do you cool wort? And by "pour" do you tip your kettle?
