Also I might add that unless you are dry hopping or something of that nature, skip the secondary and proceed to bottling to shorten the time that the oxidation has to take place.

Since it is your first brew, you will quite possibly drink it all before the oxidation damage causes too many problems. Also, if you are bottling and using priming sugar or the like to naturally carb and bottle condition, the yeast will use some of that oxygen to do its job.

You mean the rgulator and co2 bottle? I know people do that, but I don't see why. With the proper seals, there is no need for tape. In fact, IMHO if you need tape to stop a leak there you have something wrong.

Something else you can do to get rid of some of the excess co2 is shake the keg a bit and then vent to let the gas out of the beer. This is pretty much the opposite of force carbing and just as scientific (wild ass guess more or less).

I want to calculate the volume of my kettle mathematically, use the fill method, check both methods against each other and dump the water down the drain.
