    Laser-engraved Caps, Part 2

Nah, the laser can be set to barely take off the coating on the top of the cap. I've had entire batches of bottles with engraved caps and never had a problem.

    Laser-engraved Caps, Part 2

Let's try this again. Some of the more senior members may recall a couple years ago or so when I posted a thread about laser-engraved bottle caps that were available through the company for which I was working at the time. I posted this thread on it. Shortly after, I was accepted to a...

Hello from New Jersey/the south that is!

Hola! I'm in South Jersey as well. I grew up in a very green part of PA, so it took some (read: a lot of) getting used to, but I'm slowly coming around.

    Dogfish Head Punkin Ale

I have only ever tried a handful of pumpkin ales, and they usually suffer from some kind of imbalance that I can't quite place my finger on. Dogfish Head really nailed it, though. That stuff is amazing. I've only ever had one pumpkin ale that beats it, and that was at my local brew pub when I...

Nah, I do it in an air-tight room in my basement. :mug: Thanks for the responses, all.

How safe is my turkey fryer?

Hi all, When I first bought my turkey fryer in 2006, it behaved strangely. No matter how the regulator was set and how open the propane tank valve was, the flame was always very weak. After "fiddling" with the thing (basically turning the regulator up and down a lot), I got it to come up to...

I need a good fall cider recipe

I have 5 gallons of apple juice from Costco (with nothing nasty in it to affect fermentation), but I want to do more with it than just throw in some champagne yeast. What's a nice way to spice it up?

    Best Value Commercial Brews...

I also need to re-sample the porter. The sad thing for me is that I live on the same road that the Yeungling Brewery is on. It's 40 miles away, but it's the same road. :)

    Student Loans

I consolidated as well. It's definitely the way to go: you get a lower rate over a longer period, but you still have the option to pay more every month if you want to.

    Done brewing for a bit...

WTF? I'm in an absolutely identical position. I'm moving abroad in August and need to take it easy on the brewing. At least I can still buy beer. :)

BBC article: The science of a foamy head

I had a professor who went on sabbatical working for Guinness in Dublin. His job was pretty much identical to these guys: he was studying the properties of foam. At least the testing would be fun. :)
