Some slight grinding did help the lid fit. I get my thermowells from www.brewershardware.com. I like the 3/8" x 16" straight walled model for the fermentors. That fits the same grommet as the airlocks.

The directions on PBW are by weight. Such as 1 to 2 oz per gallon. I wondered how many teaspoons of powder are an ounce? Looking up the MSDS sheet the density is listed as 64 lbs per cubic foot. Converting for ounces and teaspoons I get 5.61 teaspoons per ounce or 1.87 tablespoons per ounce...
