    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

On one of the German home brewing websites a guy had problems with strange noises from his pump. Check the vanes of the pump impeller for signs of wear and also the little ceramic ball that the impeller spins on. His was worn and it meant the pump did not center properly, I think there was a...

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

I would get the sample to the calibration temp of your hydrometer and then retest, to eliminate the temp correction. Most brewing hydrometers are calibrated at 20°C (68F) or at least the ones we get in Oz are.

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

Hi all, the start of my questions! Does anyone with a 50L system know the wattage of each element and roughly how long each one is if was unrolled? I am trying to work out what is the watt density of the elements, are they both 1600W each to make 3200W total or is the smaller one 2000W (the...

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

Yay I'm famous or at least my sketch is :) I reverse engineered the braumeister a few years ago from photos on the net before they were available in Oz when my mate Rob was developing HABS his arduino based automated brew system but my plans to build one never eventuated and I gave up on...

How Easy Is It To UNweld????

Sorry disregard this post Thantos has already suggested this Why not just cut it off at the back of the flange and get someone to weld a new triclover ferrule onto the pipe stub? By the looks of it there is more than enough pipe left coming off the body of the valve.

Massive $6,000 commercial cooler... for FREE

The "bungs" you have circled in white are service ports to where you fit gauges to measure the gas pressure, the one at the front inline with the pipe leading into the compressor is the suction / low pressure side of the system and should be cool. The other one should be lukewarm as it should be...

    Electric boiling tun

You need to use the PID controller to drive an SSR hopefully fitted with a rather large heatsink!! Alternately if you are familar with the Arduino environment you can make a simple project with an Arduino baseboard and a potentiometer which can drive your SSR with 0-255 steps. I have a pretty...

    Single container RIMS - possible?

Kapser have a look at this page for a guys home made Nimbus system and how it works on brewday, he doesn't have anything fancy for lifting the bucket just a wooden frame. http://mimerbryg.dk/brewday.pdf If you have the pump then all you need is a bucket with a mesh bottom and you are almost...

    Single container RIMS - possible?

Check out the Nimbus system by Lund teknik in Denmark http://lundteknik.dk/nimbus.html You get around the sparging bit by raising the bucket part way then rinsing the grain bucket with water heated in an electric jug/ kettle. I tried it once using a 40L hot water boiling urn with a 20L plastic...

    March pump question

Does anyone know if the centre inlet pumps available in 220V versions? I live downunder so need a 220V version to use on our 230/240V supply and I would much rather have a centre inlet than inline it would prime a whole lot better. The internal threads could be drilled out if you are worried...

    Copper rust inside counter-flow chiller?

As the others have said star-san is acidic so running through some warmed up star-san will clean out the oxide. Otherwise mix up citric acid from the supermarket at 2%w/w and run that through warmed up. I usually heat some star-san or iodophor up in my kettle whilst mashing and pump it through...
