    Odd looking beer/no krausen

My first batch was from BBS and it was certainly a learning experience, that was a year ago this month. Ive kept with all grain recipes but I have switched to BIAB and have used Whirfloc tablets (which BBS doesn't include in their kits) which will help clear up the beer. Good luck with the next...

    First batch, got exploding beers

Having used BBS shop recipes in the past, I can confidently say that their recommended 3tbsp of honey is too much. I adjusted after my first round of gushers and use 2.5tbsp of honey now. Im going to assume that you are doing 1 gallon batches and thus using a hydrometer, while prefered, is...

    Cream Ale Critique & Questions

Ive used US-05 and Whirfloc with all my Cream Ales and they have all turned out crystal clear, I've never used flaked barley in mine though so I cant offer an opinion on that. My 2cents is to brew as planned.

    Too Much Head

Having used BBS recipes before and also experiencing what you just explained, I'm pointing my finger directly at the 3tbsp of Honey. I've scaled back to 2.5tbsp since and have not had any issues. Good luck!!!

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

BBS recipes always call for 3 tbls of honey for a One Gallon batch but I got a few gushers so I scaled back to 2 1/2 tbls. No problems since!!!

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I still use honey for priming, most of BBS recipes use it. If you're referring to my method of getting the beer into the bottles just a racking cane and tubing with a clamp.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Hey Jakis, I used a recipe from BBS for a single hop Citra IPA. Here are the details: 816g English Pale Malt 181g Caramel 20 90g Victory Malt Mash at 144-152 for 60 mins 14grams of Citra split into sixths. Add hops at 60, 45, 30, 15, 5 and FO. Ferment with Safale S-05 Mine turned out...

    First batch bottled! Half bottle?

I use those half/two thirds full bottles as the testers when I get impatient and want to taste my beer early.

    2.5 gallon batch yeast question

I use whole pacets of dry yeast or smack packs for my 3 Gallon brews. When I do 1 gallon brews I only use half a packet of dry yeast and save the rest for the next brew.

    Cucumber Beer Help

    Cucumber Beer Help

I just did a BBS Cucumber Saison recipe and it pairs well with a nice light dinner on a hot summer day. I wouldnt have two or three in a row but it is a flavor that would pair well with most summer bbq dishes. Like a previous poster said, just sanitize your cutting board, knives and the...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

To begin, I have two SMaSH brews. First is a MO/Nelson Sauvin and second is a MO/Pacific Jade. Both used the same grain bill and hop additions so I could get a feel for both variety of hops. Third is a Canadian 2row/Saaz Cream ale followed by a Crystal hopped Pils on the forth day which is a...
