Great looking build! I hope the recipient was pleased with it.
I'm curious about the shelves you installed. How did you get that L-shaped metal attached to the sides of the freezer and fridge? And what did you use as the shelving base? It looks like you added in some white closet type shelving...
My very first attempt was partial mash but now that I have a Rubbermaid mash tun I do all grain brews. It was good both ways. Would be curious if I could tell a difference between a partial mash and an all grain batch.
Mine was pretty indistinguishable. I did a triangle test and couldn't pick out the odd beer from the 3. I used the Northern Brewer recipe and have had great results each time I've done it (5 times and counting).
Hey neighbor! Just move two weekends ago further east so a visit isn't likely. Thanks for the offer though. I haven't had any two hearted lately so I think its about time to harvest another batch!
You don't grow hops do you? Considering it now that I own a house. Centennials won't be happy in...
Better late than never eh? I've done multiple attempts at a THA clone so far. Need to try harvesting yeast again as on my first/only attempt I think I underpitched. I tried with 1056 and US05 also and they were tough to distinguish in a blind test. Think its time to deviate from the northern...
Thanks, for sharing your experience. It was just what I needed to realize that I should just trim the dip tubes. Especially since I own a pipe cutter but no carbide drill bits. :-P
So far kegging hasn't been the revelation that it was made out to be. Its super frustrating to get parts home...
So I gather from the responses that some sort of dip tube is advisable.
Has anyone had firsthand experience with drilling the hole to accommodate the stainless gas dip tube? Or with shortening them? What is their purpose?
My local supply store had just one plastic gas dip tube and shipping on...
I've got a Firestone Challenger VI keg that I bought replacement gas in dip tubes for at a local homebrew store. I assumed all dip tubes were created equal. I've since learned that my kegs gas in hole isn't large enough to accomodate the new stainless steel gas dip tube I bought.
I understand...
It took me longer than anticipated on my first attempt too. Still was less cleaning and time involved than bottling though.
Wish I'd gotten over to the the store while in Raleigh. My local store is closed tomorrow. Guess my cream ale will have to wait. :-(
