    I've never made a repeat brew

    For myself I will probably keep brewing new beers and experimenting with styles. For my friends I will probably repeat beers - eventually. I have a friend who wants to brew beer with me, if he gets into it we may repeat beers.

    The only real difference between DME and LME is water content. They are created the same way, DME just has more water removed from it - it is more concentrated. DME has a longer shelf life as well.

    1.035 sounds about right for 4 pounds of DME. You will get about 8-9 points per pound (8*4=32 so about 1.032 and you may have picked up some points from the steeping grains).
