Mash and Boil *actual* boil volume ?

I've measured my M&B by pouring out of a measured pitcher and my marks are pretty much exactly 1/2 a gallon off on the low side. So if it shows 5 gallons I really have 5.5. I believe the marks go up to 7.5, but there is still space above that. So 8.5 to 9 is possible up to the brim. 10 seems...

Robobrew Malt Pipe Interior Pipes Thread Size

Looked at a Robobrew pipe the other day, it's not 1/2 npt, looks much smaller. Maybe even 1/4. The fitting I used on my setup was 1/2 npt.

Drain pipe mod for Mash and Boil unit.

They do, it's a pretty easy mod and helps a ton. For me it just makes it much more hands off and an easier brew day.

Drain pipe mod for Mash and Boil unit.

Works well though. Holds it in place but is still easy to move up and down. I think if you went with tig filler rod it wouldn't hold well enough

Drain pipe mod for Mash and Boil unit.

That's just the diameter of the wire itself. The opening is for a 7/8 OD pipe

Drain pipe mod for Mash and Boil unit.

This seems the be the best thing I've found by far. No issues with hitting it with the paddle, fits the 1/2 pipe perfect: https://www.grainger.com/product/2MVN9?cm_mmc=EMT-_-10101010-_-OpenOrder-_-WillCall-KPIOR-_-SKU&RIID=49761570295&GID=&mid=EMT-_-10101010-_-OpenOrders_WillCall-_-SKU

Drain pipe mod for Mash and Boil unit.

Top pipe is 9", bottom is 8". When fully extended the top of the pipe sticks above the top of the malt pipe about an inch. Price on the kit is $55 shipped in the US. Shoot me a PM if you're interested, would be happy to answer any questions

Drain pipe mod for Mash and Boil unit.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Been off the grid for a while. After made this unit for myself I got enough interest that I started making kits to sell. Everything is stainless, but yes you will have to drill through your mash pipe. Quite a few people have done this now with no issues, it's a...

Brewer's Edge - Mash & Boil - Advice Needed - Some scorched material on bottom after brew &1600/1000

I've had mine about a year and I don't think I've had a batch that didn't have that to some degree. I recirculate during mash with a pump and the center drain pipe mod so it's constantly moving and does a good job of filtering out grain material and I still get it. I haven't noticed any off...

    Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil

Hey, sorry for the late reply on this. Wasn't getting my notifications. The base piece is the weldless fitting for igloo coolers from Brewhardware: https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/mwl12cooler.htm Then the bottom pipe is an 8" 1/2-NPT threaded nipple also from Brewhardware. The upper pipe...

    Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil

I did a separate post on this, but saw this thread and thought it would fit here too. I'm recirculating with the M&B unit, and finally decided I needed a center drain pipe to get better recirc like the robobrew/grainfather. Pretty simple mod and makes recirculation much more hands off, and brew...

Drain pipe mod for Mash and Boil unit.

So I originally picked up a Mash and Boil unit not too long after they came out with the intent of using it for small test batches and Mini BIAB. Then I started brewing on the unit and found out it made my brew day much easier compared to my 15gallon HERMS setup. I started with a small "brown...

    Home brewing in Japan

Hello everyone, I know this is off topic for the post but this seemed like an active thread so I figured it would be my best chance for a response. I'm a homebrewer/beer geek in Yokohama for work. I'm free today (Feb 7th) after 12pm and was hoping to hit up some brewpubs and taprooms. If anyone...
