    Ziegler's 48 Qt Mash/Lauter Tun

Finished my Mash/Lauter Tun this morning and wanted to share some pictures. I have only ran water and oxy-clean through the system a couple of times, but I plan to use it tomorrow for an all-grain batch. The manifold is 1/2" CPVC with slots cut every 1/2" along the pipe. Since the manifold...

    Show us your Kegerator

Implying that the wood was cold was probably an overstatement. I cant tell the difference between the temp of the side of my freezer and the outside of the wood collar. While I am not specifically mech-e, I am a professional engineer with experience in thermodynamics. I too pondered this...

Wood acts as an insulator. Is it as good as foam insulation of the same thickness?... no. Is it as good as the freezer walls itself?... no. However it is still good enough. My metal facets are much much colder than the collar, but rarely do they ever get cold enough to have condensation...

    Happiness is: Home malting

Commercial wheat malt (except for the dark wheat malt) tends to have enough diastatic power to convert itself with power to spare. Wheat Malt - Home Brewing Wiki I have never done an all-wheat batch... but I have done some where I was 75% wheat (some was flaked wheat) without any problems. I...

    Fresh Mozz Problem

Wow... great info. I have been trying to make cheese off and on for the past 8 months or so with mixed results. I came across the cheese forum here yesterday, and already have learned quite a bit. Found a different brand of milk yesterday from a different store... I will try that this...

    Fresh Mozz Problem

Evets... are pathogens a concern, or does the processing of the cheese take care of them?

Super market whole milk non-organic. I think you may be right about the ultra pasteurized.
