    Post your infection

This one took me by surprise. This is a 9.5% Belgian strong ale that fermented down to around 1.002. I even purged the headspace with co2. It has been in the secondary for 2 months and this just started to form. I don't know what to make of it...

Aging Belgian Strong - is this normal?

I planned on kegging it. I just bought another keg that is being shipped to me. I figured I better get it under co2 and refrigerated before anything that may spoil it grows any more. Plus I guess you can never have too many kegs...

Aging Belgian Strong - is this normal?

Lol. Yeah knock on wood is correct. I did sanitize everything well, wine thief included. It has been in secondary for well over a month and I just noticed the top layer this morning. I checked on it over a week ago and it looked normal.

Aging Belgian Strong - is this normal?

Hey everyone, I have quite a few beers under my belt now with no infections to date. I made this Belgian strong ale on April 30, transferred it to secondary, and even filled the head space with extra co2. The beer is around 9.5% ABV. I went to check on it today and there is a strange film...

    Co2 Regulator/ Leak confusion

Hello everyone. I have a 20lb Co2 tank with a very old regulator that I believe is totally out of calibration. I have still managed to make it work and carb everything up really well over the past year. I have my kegs and Co2 system set up and have not had any leak problems whatsoever. I...

    Dry hopped too soon?

I brewed on 12/3 and fermentation was moving along really quickly just about 12 hours after pitching. Airlock activity drastically slowed by 12/6 and last night when I pitched the hops I had virtually no airlock activity. The beer did smell delicious!

    Dry hopped too soon?

Unfortunately there is no way for me to remove the hops. I dumped the pellets in. I got a little too ahead of myself.

    Dry hopped too soon?

Hello everyone, So yes I am on my 4th batch of beer and still learning and making mistakes. My recipe said dry hop 4 days, and I dry hopped on the 4th day of fermentation. Yes I know....I read that completely wrong! Anyway I added about 1.4 ounces of Citra hops on the 4th day of...

    Stains in Bucket

Just for reference for anyone else who may get this problem, I did reuse the bucket for my latest batch. I scrubbed everything down really good with PBW, soaked in diluted bleach water for half a day, cleaned with PBW again, and then soaked the bucket in Star San. I had no issues with an...

    Low OG - Irish Ale

Hello everyone, Last night I brewed my 3rd beer. It was an Irish Red that was supposed to have an estimated OG of 1.049. I had some settings in Beersmith that were off. Somehow it had me put in an extra gallon than it should have for the sparge, and I ended up with 6.5 gallons of beer. I...

    Stains in Bucket

The water has been turning my sink/shower drains pink for the past few years. The water hasn't turned any of my equipment pink so far. The only issues I had was this bucket, and that was after the water sat for a couple of weeks.

    Stains in Bucket

Hey everyone, I am new here and fairly new to brewing (2 all grain batches) but have been reading this forum for months and have learned a lot from everyone. I do have a question that I haven't been able to find much information on from searching. I racked my beer from my primary to a keg...
