    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Well, I finally got a hydrometer. However my 3-gal batch is almost finished. Still a few bubbles, but it's newspaper-clear and fruit is dropping. How do I check the alcohol content now?

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Yay! My 3-gallon batch (started Feb 2) is newspaper-clear, one raisin (now looks like a slightly dehydrated grape) has fallen, but there are still some bubbles rising. Should be ready to bottle soon, no?

Yikes, $30 for 3 lbs? Here I thought getting a 5 lb jug of honey for $15 was expensive.

My first batch, which I started Jan 2, is starting to clear up, though it's still bubbling. Should I rack it into another container, or let it finish out the remaining 3 weeks? I can't tell how clear it's getting, it's in a milk jug, but shining a flashlight through it shows it's mostly clear.

    Cherry Mead Reserve

I'm interested in trying this recipe. Can it be brewed in the same method as a JAOM, or do I need more specialized equipment?

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

I've got a few more questions, now that my first question is mooted (topped up the water this morning). I live about a football-field's distance from some train tracks. Whenever a train goes by, I can feel it shaking the house slightly. Might this disturb the lees enough that it doesn't really...

Thanks for the advice. I'd like to try to keep purchases of specialized equipment to a minimum, at least until I find out if I like this hobby or not. :) The yeast appear to be very happy. It's currently bubbling away, as if I had an aeration stone in there. I can hear the tiny bubbles popping...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Hi folks, new user here :) I just started my JAOM on Jan 2 (wanted to start it on Jan 1, but didn't have the cinnamon stick or cloves yet). It is currently bubbling away nicely in my linen closet, the only place I had room enough for the jug. I had a few questions I didn't see answered in...
