    4 day old wort

It was locked in the trunk pre-boil. What are the odds that the electronic trunk release fails the ONE time I had something in there that I worried could have been the cause? Anyway, turned out absolutely horrid and undrinkable. I guess some process of aging the wort is how one brews a...

    4 day old wort

Mashed grains on Saturday and packed up the family in wife's car to boil at a buddy's house. The trunk suffered an electrical problem and I was just able to get it open today. I was quite please to note that 6.5 gallons of wort was NOT the cause of the electrical problem, as I had feared...

    Portable Kegging Options

Thanks for the suggestion Dane but I don't see how that's a good option. Seems it would cost $30+ (plus initial investment) just to dispense a keg. That's not big money by any means, but also not the solution I'm looking for. If there's some cheap way to stock up on those cartridges that I'm not...

    Portable Kegging Options

Thanks for the suggestions. Tipping the keg sounds plausible but precarious given we'll be camping. Maybe I could build a cheap stand of some sort. The bike pump idea has promise too. Looking at the tap I have I can't see how it will come apart nicely, bump pump fittings could be rigged up...

I've been kegging for a couple months now - have a two keg/dual regulator setup in my garage. My buddies and I have a 10 year running camping trip...

First mead batch, need input please

Thanks FB, that's all great info. A few follow up questions... Unfortunately I did not get an original gravity reading as I could not find my thief at the time - is there a way to estimate what the reading should be to indicate fermenting is complete? Right now the batch is still pretty hazy...

First mead batch, need input please

Hi guys, I'm an avid beer brewer and have just entered the world of mead and need some advice. I've started with a half batch with cheap honey, some yeast energizer, and a dry champaign yeast. I intended to only have 2.5 gallons but somehow mis-measured and have closer to 4 gallons. This...
