Bananas Foster Creamy Ale (All Grain) **pic intensive**

Looks lovely. Do you think that 5 lbs of bananas is the magic number or would you add more or less if you brewed this one again? I love bananas and this is one awesome looking brew!

Bananas Foster Creamy Ale (All Grain) **pic intensive**

Looking forward to hearing about the end result. I want to use some of your techniques to incorporate bananas into a dunkel.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Like a few others, I have a batch of Irish Red going right now.

    Sam Adams Alpine Spring?

I do like fruit in beer, but I found the blackberry wit to be undrinkable. Luckly my husband will drink nearly anything and he finished it off. I tried the new alpine spring on draft today and it was fantastic. I too would like to see a clone recipe come around for this one.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing a clementine blonde this weekend, before they go out of season. Might brew a witbier next.

    How Long Do You Ferment?

Typically 2-3 weeks in the primary, 1-2 weeks in the secondary and 2 weeks minimum in bottles.

    What's your profession?

I work in fast food. I would call myself a burger flipper, but we don't sell burgers. I used to work with animals, training, nutritional consolation, grooming and boarding type stuff. You would likely be not surprised to learn that the pet care industry took a pretty large hit when the...

    Why all the crazy beers?

I think "because we can" summed it right up. I brew about half and half. Last brew session for me was a California Common. The brew session before I did a Blackberry American Wheat. This weekend I will be making a Clementine Blonde. The wildest thing I have done is a Sweet Potato Pie...

    IPA=blah

Honestly I am not wild about the style either. So far I've only found 2 commercial examples I enjoy: Bells Two Hearted and Anchor Liberty. To each their own, though I wish the style didn't take up so much space at the local beer joints.

    When to add fruit.

If it where me, I would rack the beer on top of them in the secondary. Since they are dried, I would also boil them to make sure they are nice and sanitary beforehand. You could put them in to the primary with anywhere from 15-5 minutes left (or the whole time I guess when if you where so...

    Steam beer temp control

Yea this is a big concern for me. I am sooo forgetfull about stuff like this. Thank god my husband feeds the dogs otherwise they would starve. I am equally thankful we don't have children lol. I guess I will give this a try and see how it goes. The man of the house is beginning to raise...

Nothing I can do will bring water to boil on my stove... advice?

I do 2.5 gallon partial boils inside and then after cooling the wort and transferring it to the carboy, I top off, shake vigorously and aerate with an aquarium pump for 30 minutes. This has worked well for me the 3 times I did it (last time I brewed outdoors with a full boil and hated it, and I...

    Steam beer temp control

Alright I think I see the where this is going. I guess I will have to do a swamp cooler. I was hoping not to, not just for the extra expense but also because I don't really have any easy way of changing that water out. Its hard enough for me to lift the filled carboys, let alone lift one out...

    Steam beer temp control

I am going to be brewing up a Steam beer (California common, sorry don't sue!) and I had a quick question about the fermenting temperature. My house is about 67 degrees all of the time, but I know the ferm process will mean that the brew will run about 72 degrees if I don't do anything about...

    Well water questions

Thank you very much for the information :mug: Seems the consensus is that I am being a little fussy, which is typical of me. I will get the water tested ASAP and until then I will brew a couple batches and hope for the best. I am fairly certain we have hard water (I see the deposits on...
