    It Just Wont Stop!!

Sorry. no change in gravity reading. The airlock will stop for a while and then be fairly active.

    It Just Wont Stop!!

No change in three days. Interesting thought on the temperature. Temperature changes are us. It has been very cold here (-20 ish) and my system is very DIY. I have been everywhere from 68 to 72 degrees. I can still see bubbles popping in the krauzen. Greg

    It Just Wont Stop!!

I have had bottle bombs. Makes a mess of the beer room. Hefe's are not ready to bottle in a week, in March. No problem waiting, this is next years Christmas beer. I have just never had one go so far.

    It Just Wont Stop!!

I brewed up a beautiful looking Stout three weeks ago tomorrow. It went off with a bang using Wyeast London Ale. You know, blow off tube. big show, the works. That was all fine and good but here we are three weeks later and she will calm down a bit and then just go off again. As I sit typing I...

    My Cup Runneth Over

Wow, this thing has gotten explosive! This morning I went out back to grab a sixer to throw in the 'fridge. Bottles have started to explode. Violently. I was in the root cellar with the flashlight and noticed that four or five bottles had gone off and decided to back away...quickly. Back in...

Does the yeast sitting in there for that long cause trouble? Better to put it into a secondary fermenter?

    My Cup Runneth Over

So I think I have this figured out and thought I would share my findings. My addled brain couldn't figure out what had changed but my wife (aren't they great) reminded me that I had lowered my fermentation temps. I recently built a "hillbilly cooler" with an old bathtub and R-56 in plastic...

    My Cup Runneth Over

Interesting suggestions and I few I had not thought of. I was in Primary for 7 days and secondary for another 5 and bottled at that point. As you say though I may still have had some fermentable sugar left. I had reached my FG. I agree with the scale, especially now that I am starting all...

    My Cup Runneth Over

Quick question. I have a great Porter that we are drinking right now. Really happy with the flavor etc. but every time I open a bottle it fizzes out all over the place to the detriment of the floor and counter top. It settles in a minute but I am wasting hard won beer! What did i do wrong...

    DME blues

Do you think it will give the beer an "off" taste?

    DME blues

If anyone cares it is from Wyeast Yeast Propagator got to smack the package, I thought it was fun. What do you mean don't decant first? Don't put the yeast in the carboy first? First in relation to what??

    DME blues

Hi fellow brewers, My name is Greg and I have been lurking around here for some time. Learned a lot. I have searched around and cannot find the answer to a bit of a problem I am having: I live sort of far out in the boondocks and beer supplies are scarce. I have just used liquid yeast for...
