    Yet another "Infected" thread.

I have some wierd looking bubbles on one of my brews. I'm pretty sure that the orange/brown stuff (I'm quite colorblind) is just yeast from the sides, but there are some wired looking bubbles that weren't there before. They look like flat bubbles with little particles in them. I'll attach a...

    Tasted a bottled beer

I saw some slimy particles floating in one of my bottles, so I figured it was infected. I wanted to save my room from a beer explosion, so I craked it open. When I did, I got an olde faithful of beer--- after only 4 days. I gave it a taste, and it had a weird taste. I can only begin to...

    Normal fermentation?

Ever since my last beer got infected, I'm taking every look and thinking that I have another infected beer. My last brew didnt have this kind of bubbles on it, it had krausen, then when that fell, it had just a few bubbles. This one seems to be overrun with them. Does this look normal?

    Messed up while capping?

I was capping, and one of my bottles got stuck in the capper. I ended up getting it out and it had a deep dimple in the top of it. Should I let it be, or recap?

Not as cloudy as my first brew?

That's the boil kettle while cooling. I did this brew on the stove with 2 pots, one sparge and the other for the rest of the mash.

Not as cloudy as my first brew?

I got about 70% effiency, but I cant see any cloudiness that I associate with good conversion. Is this cloudiness some thing else not related to malt conversion? Here is a pic of it. Usually, the entire pot is cloudy, this time there is a 6 inch diameter circle of cloudiness.

Enough headway to run an airlock?

I am making a 2.5 gal brew in a 11 litre carboy. I came out a little shy after my boil with about 2.2 gallons. It turns out, my blow-off tubing won't fit into the carboy plug I have, but one of my airlocks will. I am using Safbrew SS-06. Will this combo net me a brew-volcano?

Bring down color without imparting flavor?

Would you guys reccomend adding some Carafa III to a Maris Otter/Cascade SMaSH? Just to give it a little more depth? This is my first time not following a set recipe, but I don't want to make something that tastes like ass.

Bring down color without imparting flavor?

Would I be correct in assuming that adding some Black Patent during the last 5 minutes of my mash would darken by brew with out making it to "roasty"?

    Substitute for Crystal 125L

Let me preface my question by saying that I am new to the world of grain... A recipe I want to make calls for 4oz Crystal 125L- but my brew shop doesn't carry this grain. What "kind" of grain is this and what should I substitute it with?

    Blow off stopped bubbling

I guess I'm in need of some clarification. Everyone is saying that bubbles don't mean much, but to me, it seems they would be a great way to see if fermentation is underway. My understanding was that fermentation yielded EtOH and Co2. The Co2 would bubble out, causing pressure, and then cause...

    Blow off stopped bubbling

My blow off stopped bubbling overnight when it somehow flipped out of the container I had it in. Before that I was getting one bubble every second, and the brew had a nice head of Krausen on it. Now I am not getting bubbles through the blow off - but when I look at the brew, there are still...

    Krausen down after one night?

I tasted it and tasted strong vinegar. I took this as a lesson and I am now starting fresh with a batch of some Blue Moon Clone. :mug:

    Krausen down after one night?

Should I through all of this in a pot and re boil it? Then toss the rest of my yeast in after I cool it down?

    Krausen down after one night?

Woah weird, I didn't post that picture. Meh, no biggie. My brew looks nothing like that. It has a thin Krausen on it, and smells of beer. I will remember the thing about no un-boiled water/wort! I didn't even think about contamination from there, and only focused on body-equipment...
