    Man, I love Apfelwein

Made 5 gallons of this a few months back (probably 4 -5 months ago). After bottling and conditioning for a month or so I tasted it and it finishes with an unpleasant almost sulfurous taste. I did add some brown sugar to a basically unchanged recipe from the first page. Is this aftertaste...

    Noob Lagering Questions

Tastes fine at this point. I had a bit last night when I checked the final gravity. I'll get it into a secondary, repitch and see what happens. I definitely think it's salvageable from how it tasted, just need to get that gravity down where it needs to be.

    Noob Lagering Questions

Evidently I didn't read enough before undertaking my first Lager. I believe I did things slightly backwards, so i'm hoping all is not lost and you guys can head me in the right direction. I've made several batches of beer (15 or 20, but this was my first Lager. Got a new house, and with it...

Raising SG on a new brew

Hey guys, this is my 7th batch of beer. So far all have come out quite good, so I decided to wing it a bit when I went to the home brew shop. picked out a couple lbs of complimentary grains, some LME, and a couple ounces of hops. The goal was to do a nice wheat beer (easy street, sunshine wheat...

    Building a bar. Few questions

Thanks guys that gives me several ideas. I hadn't even thought about the lines themselves needing refrigeration. Now i'm rethinking the layout a bit, but for the better.

    Building a bar. Few questions

I'm building a decent size bar in our new home and had a few questions. We have a 13 foot long section that I will be framing off as a wine room. It should come out to about 13X5 when done. The upper portion of the walls will be glass so you can see in. In front of that will be a walking area...

    New Brewer from Colorado

Welcome! (from Colorado Springs) The process of making the beer is fantastic. I just started a few months ago myself, but i've already bottles a wheat, mild ale, apfelwine, vanilla creal ale, and a berry wheat. It's addictive. Went to Vegas last week and forgot how fortunate we are here in...

    Noobie getting into kegging

I've got an extra full size refrigerator that i'm going to be using to start. I would like to have multiple taps/kegs. The plan is to setup a fairly large bar area in my basement along with a climate controlled brewing/storage room. That's about a year off in the plans, but when it happens it...

    Noobie getting into kegging

I'm on my third batch of homebrew, and i'm thinking about getting into kegging instead of bottling. What all should I look at when piecing something together? Found some inexpensive 5 gallon kegs in the classified section, so i'm considering those. Any suggestions for the rest of the gear...

Noobie finishes two batches wants to start another

I should have clarified the Guinness point lol. When I was in the UK/ Germany, etc the Guinness was much better than the American stuff. I do enjoy dark stouts, oatmeal stouts, etc. Might be good for a nice winter beer. The pumpkin ale might be a good idea for thanksgiving, but i'm not sure how...

Noobie finishes two batches wants to start another

That sounds good as well. I've got two 5 gallon carboys, so I might try both. Now I have a couple noob questions as far as reading and using these recipes. So, from the above i'm guessing that I need to bring 6.8 gallons to a boil, then add in my malts and the extract. From there I add the...
