After fixing the pump on my Ebay unit I did my first brew yesterday. Went flawless except for a slight burning insulation smell from the unit. I will probably upgrade the wiring/connectors.
Mine did not come with the accessories so I made my own false bottom out of the top of one of my keggles...
My Ebay unit update: Ran through a cleaning cycle and determined the boil pump was not working. After draining I verified the pump was getting power but it was -12v. I checked and they wired it backwards at the factory so this unit has most likely never completed a brew. Re-wired and everything...
I got my Ebay unit. Wouldn't boot up or it would hang on loading. I discovered a couple cold solder joints on the front panel pcb mainly where the power on button connects. Re-soldered and it boots up and I can play around with recipes and whatnot. I'll give it a cleaning cycle this weekend...
I did recieve my ebay brewie. It is also missing the hop cages, false bottom, and has a big dent in the side. This one does not boot up. Hangs on the brewie logo. I'm going to try to re-do the SD card and see if that fixes it. What is the process for that?
That is all true and not to mention how much time tinkering with it is worth it. I might give it a go. I do electronics for a living and am familiar with most of these processes.
$250 is not a horrible price for:
2 SS kettles, 2 boil elements, 2 brew pumps, 1 heat exchanger (CFC), and 6 solenoids. If I could use it with another controller like CraftbeerPi it'd be worth it for me.
I had this same problem with my first 2 attempts at kegging. I found that my regulator was broken and was reading 20-30 psi too low (So I set it 20-30 psi too high). Shot out like a fire hose. Hope this helps.
Nice app!
I know it hasn't been updated in a while but, mash options would be awesome. I mostly use this to keep track of my inventory. The ability to specify leaf or pellet hops would be nice. Also a adjuncts section. Thanks
