I've always wondered why they slant that other pickup...do you know why? Beautiful guitar, BTW.

Beautiful guitar!
I believe the slant is to keep the treble tones higher and the bass notes lower as relative to the strings crossing the bridge... That's what I was told many moons ago by an old guitar teacher.
