i tried something similar. bought a camping mat and then spend an hour fashioning the mat to fit my 10 gallon pot. looked great. darn thing melted and buckled almost immediately.

I tried the reflector material too. I spent quite a while measuring and cutting to make it fit well. It melted.

I used one of the silver colored bubble windshield screens for your car. It works okay for 2.5 to 5 gallon BIAB mashes but anything smaller and I put my pot in the oven on its lowest setting.

I just used mine to hold the heat during mashing. I would remove it once I started to heat up the wort.
