This view shows the magnets used on top of the fan, as well as the only portion of the stir plate that is fragile for shipping purposes. My best guess is that pink spacer will come separated from the base of the stir plate box, so you would have to glue that back on. Or simply replace the pink material with something more solid, maybe a block of wood or something. All it's doing is placing the magnets on the fan as close as possible to the underside of the top surface of the stir plate.

If I were going to build this all over again, I would use only a single magnet in the center of the fan. Every once in a while the stir rod has trouble catching the magnetic field in just the right spot between the four magnets I put on there. Just put the flask on with the stir plate turned off, start it up slowly, and it can go all day and night with a nice tornado.
