The only thing I would suggest is to use wooden shish-ka-bob skewers broken in half or fourths to be used as dowels to keep the thing together, along with the liquid nails. Simply stab the skewers through the pieces, as if to nail the thing together. You don't need to use too many. The liquid nails allows a lot of play between the pieces and you can end up with a real mess.
