How did you bypass the thermostat on the window a/c unit. I want to build one of these to do lagers and pilsners but the thermostat won't allow me to go that low.

I just set it all the way to its lowest setting and use an external johnson controller. It would be tough for an ac unit to keep it as low as 50F, which is why I use this as the "ale" cabinet. Chest freezer is the way to go for lagers.
