So what is the purpose of mixing 7 bottles of whiskey/bourbon into a pitcher?

This was a group brew for a bourbon barrel beer, each brewer was to contribute bourbon. We had 96 oz go into a 53 gallon 4 roses barrel. We brewed Denny Conn's Vanilla Bourbon Imperial Porter and will age it for at least 4 months.
