Had a problem with air locks overflowing and plugging so I did this

Are the two brews sharing an airlock water vessel? That is going to be a very nice batch of beer you have there. Especially the one on the left, I love dark beers.

I have never used traditional airlocks for brewing; always the tube in water bottle approach(TWB anyone?). I guess I was just too lazy to drive to the lhbs to buy one when first starting out...then I learned about blow offs and just stuck with it:)

Me too...love the blowoff! You can fill that carboy up and get rid of some krausen..what's not to love?
