ooooooohhh!,.. pre-chiller. that's brilliant! our tap water here in the south isn't particularly cold. this would work great. thanks

Doesn't look like there's water, just ice (forgive me if I'm wrong). Ice water would really help with the heat transfer.

You can see the water around the edges. There's just a pile of ice above water level in the middle

I've been using one of these since my second AG. Here in Texas, you really can't use an immersion chiller unless you have a pre-chiller.
