The red cardboard in my hand is approximately the size of the 90 degree metal bracket that I used, and nearly in the same position. The brackets are fixed to the collar with one inch screws and to the freezer lip with shorter sheet metal screws. Because the collar is glued and screwed together with brackets independently, it has great strength in itself. It is held to the freezer with only 8 small sheet metal screws, so it is strong enough to hold the lid and taps, but I wouldn't recommend moving the freezer by pushing on the collar or picking up the freezer by just this alone. It is very sturdy and sleek.
