Is this Google sketchup? if so how did you connect the different diameter rings with the slope? I've been trying to figure this out?

No this is ProEngineer. It is the high end modeling software Johndeere and Cat use. It is about $5k for a business to buy, but you can get a "personal use" version for about $300.
