Hi, I live in Europe (Romania) and get my brewing supplies from the Brouwland catalog. The Weyermann maltster company has a product called "whiskey malt." Is this peat malt?

I know this is a mostly-American forum and this isn't an American company, but I'm guessing that if you've come across the phrase before, it probably describes the same basic product here as it does in the States, since I order the English language version of the magazine.

I doubt that it's peat smoked. Weyermann does makes a wood smoked malt and the smoked malt they list in their distiller's section is probably the same thing. Unless it is specifically stated that it is smoked malt the "whiskey malt" is likely just a higher enzyme version of their pale malt.
