I'm looking into taking an online brewers course to get to the really technical stuff about brewing as I wish to open my own micro some day. I have looked around online a little and it seems the American brewers guild offers the best programmes in terms of apprenticeships etc. Does anyone know of any other reputable or recognized online brewer courses?

The Siebel Institute in Chicago offers some of their courses online, I'll be starting the Associate in Brewing Technology program in a few weeks.

Not sure if they have any or not, but try looking at UC Davis or Colorado State, to see if they have anything online.

This is a good free course on basic brewing chemistry: https://janux.ou.edu/course.chem4970.html

You should brush up a bit on your organic chemistry first, before starting this course, if it's been a while since college.

I'm not sure when it will be offered again, but it was a very good course.

I just wonder how much you can learn from an online course. Lets face it even professional brewing is very much a physical, get your hands dirty type of profession. The online work seems like only half the equation.
