Did I get the wrong size? Is there an adjustment that can be made?

Are you certain it's not cross-threaded? Could just be optical illusion but i'm not certain it's on straight.

Isn't there normally a spacer piece?

It is on straight. I checked all three taps and all 5 ferrules. There is not currently a spacer on the black plastic handles.

    Hey,

Give this a shot - with mine the two crosshatched pieces, the grippy metal parts ( don't know the proper name ) are actually two pieces, the top part is threaded on and it moves so that the handle can be secured without the gap - that worked for me :)
