Just started steeping my grains for a coffee stout. Gonna do the Blue Moon clone that's been floating around the board tomorrow.

Today (or what's left of it): Dunkelweizen; mashing now, not without some issues
Saturday: plant the hops, as long as the forecast doesn't call for any more frost
Sunday: Oatmeal Stout, unless the bike rebuild grabs my attention instead

    (oops, gotta update the sig)

I'm brewing my new Red Helicopter Porter Monday morning. It's the same as my Black Helicopter Porter, but I'm going to add raspberries to the secondary. A chocolate raspberry porter should be kick ass, even if it's not the season anymore. :D

Mac & Jack's = Damn good beer!!! Is that a extract kit?

No brewing this weekend for me... Kegging my IPA, and racking my vanilla weizen to secondary!
I'll be brewing up something next Saturday... Just not sure what yet!

Its an extract recipe that calls for some grains to be steeped, but I'm converting it to a partial mash recipe. It calls for an early addition of DME then a late addition of LME. I'm converting the DME to 2 row UK and mashing it with the rest of the grains that are listed (including munich, which I don't know why they tell me to steep). stoked, haven't brewed in a while.

I woke up at 4AM!!! Got all my stuff, ingredients & gear together, sanitized then started brewing.

Before 9AM I had two extract brews in two carboys!!! :D

    Amarillo Pale Ale

West Coast Common hopped with centennial

Even better.... while I was waiting for the water to boil, it had stopped pouring outside. I managed to get about 100 monster sized night crawlers.

I walked outside to let the dog piss... I'm like holy sh*t!! I couldn't walk down the driveway without stepping on them.

Now I'm set for the summer for fishing worms.

Nothing. All my carboys and bottles were full. I did, however, bottle my altbier which had been sitting in the secondary nearly all winter. Tasted pretty good coming out of the bottling bucket.

Next up? I'm not sure. I've got my first two AG batches in carboys, but am not sure how either of them will turn out.

I think something really simple and probably something using mostly maris otter.

Looks like the front that dropped the rain on you is about to hit here.....and my Bust A Nut Brown is about to start boiling. What bad timing:mad: I won't be able to cool the wort outside like I wanted, gonna hafta lug it inside to the kitchen sink to hook up the chiller. Oh the thunder's rumbling as I type. GRRRRRR:mad:

I use them as an adjunct. - Late boil addition, right at flame out. You should see how hard it is getting those critters in a muslin hop sack! :cross:

They're only good for getting that stink bait aroma, not much on flavor. :D

Well I was planning the 07.07.07 7-Grain Revolution for tomorrow, but stuff came up for tomorrow afternoon. I have all the ingredients, now I just have to figure out when to brew it. I also bought the ingredients for the 07.07.07 Rye IPA today, so now I really need to schedule time to brew.

High octane hefe! the idea was conseived here

    http://homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=25558

just mashed 3lb red wheat and 1 lb 2 row (why the hell did I order 2 row!! I meant to get pilsner but it was free since I won the austin homebrew weekly give away)

I'm waiting for it to come to a boil and I'm going to add a can of wheat LME (got a 10% discount on this!! bc It was my first time going to the ONLY LHBS in town and last week was my bday!)

And I'm pitching on a yeast cake of Wyeast Bavarian Hefe yeast that I just bottled the beer from.

On a side note I'm having a Spaten Optimator for the first time and it's awesome! even my girlfriend liked it.....is it me or does it taste like cherries?

    Happy brewing!

Well, after losing some serious dough at poker I still have a good brew to look forward to. My AAA brew in my sig turned out pretty good and is fermenting strongly thanks to a big starter. Oh, and yes I am pretty lit right about now... anyway, brew on people!

Almost done with the microwave cart conversion:[IMG]

Need an extension for the burner hose, remove a few slats to make a space for the propane and I'll have mobile mashing.

Wow... This brew was the first one I used a starter on... Had a 2" thick krausen about 6.5 hours after pitching!

Consider me a starter convert, I'm never gonna brew without using one again.

Finshed up yesterday right as the rain started. Only had a couple raindrops infiltrate my brewpot.

I did get a lot of looks from the neighbors drinving by. I was sitting in front of my house with my burners and my brewpot.

A couple old ladies came by and complimented me on the smell, they wanted to know what I was cooking and I said "beer!". They said "smells good!" started walking off and then REALIZED what I said, they came back and checked everything out.

I'm pretty sure everyone in the neigborhood knows who I am now.

Brewed my mead and my saison. Wort temp in the primary was around 98F. I couldn't drop it any more. I ranout of ice and I was pressed for time and clear skies. I pitched the yeast (white labs for each). Its been 24 hours, no noticable fermentation, I know I'm just impatient.

    SWEET!!!
We polished off a growler of Mac & Jack's while brewing the clone. I couldn't be happier with how the brew day went honestly.

Its my first time breaking in the new mash-tun, and everything went perfectly. I calculated my strike water temperature with beersmith, and after strike I was PERFECTLY at 155. My sparge water was at 170 EXACTLY when I needed it, and my satinless steel braided hose kept the runnings clean from the get go.

After all was said and done my OG was DEAD ON at 1.060, which means that my mash efficiency was right on with expectations.

It makes me want to brew all grain SO badly :)

You pitched at 98F??!?!?!?!?! Um, don't be surprised if you are waiting quite awhile for fermentation. That's awful warm for pitching.
Dude, I can't believe you were willing to fork over the dough for burners for boiling, and haven't sprung for a chiller yet. The chiller should be your first extra expenditure, IMHO. Then no worries about running out of ice........

I brewed up a boulevard wheat clone on wed. I was worried that I may have caused an infection, I had some little problems at the end. But it has been fermenting like crazy and smells great, so i guess i did good. I guess the saying that beer is more forgivable than people think is true.

I'll be brewing a dunkelweisen tonight, I think. I made up this recipe and not sure if I went by the dunkel standards. Should be a dark weizen though:

    4lb pils malt
    4lb pale wheat
    2lb dark wheat
    1lb Durst Munich
    .5 Cararoma

    1oz hallertauer 60 min
    1oz hallertauer 30 min

    WLP300
