I purchased an activated charcoal whole-house water filter from Home Depot and modified it to accept an RV food-safe water hose which I connect right to my sillcock in the garage. I put a valve on before the filter to control water flow. It removes all chlorine but it leaves the minerals, and so far it has worked perfectly for me.

I purchased a Whirlpool WHCF-DWF Whole House Prefiltration unit and the corresponding WHCF-WHCW carbon filter. Only carbon filters remove chlorine from the water.

Both sides of the filter are threaded, so I just bought whatever parts I needed to attach a hose to either side.

Here is a related thread that might help: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/water-filter-setup-29145/
