    Hello everyone,

Hopefully this is in the right location. I am using a water bath to keep my carboy cool during fermentation, and have a quick question. The temperature of the water in the rope tub is the same temperature as the wort + or - a degree or two correct? I think I read this somewhere on the forum, but just can't seem to find it again.

    Thanks!

The fermentation will produce heat, so the temperature of the wort inside the carboy will be a few degrees higher than the water in the tub. Some have found it to be up to 5 degrees or more..

If you keep the water in the tub at the lower end of the yeast's temp range, all should be fine.

Thanks for the info! I have been keeping it about 63-64 so far. The yeast is Nottingham. Going to try and keep it a bit lower for the rest of fermentation.

    Thanks
