Warm vinegar to sanitize a corny?

    Is this alright? Heat up some vinegar and swish around? I can't find any starsan, and vinegar can be a cheap sanitizer/disinfectant.

    I wouldn't just because I hate the smell if vinegar. Do you have any bleach that you could dilute and rinse the hell out of?

    Or... could you not just dump a gallon or two of boiling water in the keg? Shake, let the steam kill any nasties.

    Cool. Will do vinegar and then a gallon of boiling water :)

    Watch for thermal shock with the boiling water.
    Rinsing the hell out after bleaching also seems to defeat the purpose of sanitizing, unless you can rinse with sterile water.

    Bleach is not a good idea on stainless steel.

    I'm not that worried about the sterility of the water. But thanks for the thermal shock warning. What are common consequences of too much sudden heat in a corny?

    My guess is rawlus thought you were talking about a carboy. there is no way 212 degree water would cause any problems to stainless steel.
