Hi newbie question here. Is there anything to worry about when buying used glass carboys? Or will all be ok once cleaned out and sanitized. He stated he used them to brew wine.
    Thanks Paul

Just cheack to make sure they don't have cracks the whole way through the glass. Surface cracks/imperfections in manufacturing are fine, just keep an eye on them!

Some of the most common problems:

    1) Acid etching
    2) very hard to remove residue (oxyclean helps a lot)
    3) cracks/chipping

I emptied a carboy that had some kalhua clone in it from 20 years ago. With some strong sanitizer and a bottle brush it lifted right off. Just a thought!
