tubing question

i recently bought this guy online for my corny keg. its a picnic tap, corny quick disconnect, and 1' of 1/4" ID tubing...

i know that 10' of 3/16" ID tubing is the general recommendation, but i just am not sure if the 3/16" tubing will fit with the tap and disconnect that was sent with 1/4" tubing...

anyone with more experience have an answer for me? thx!

 

You can give it a shot but my guess is that you'll have foaming issues with that short of a line. i use 4 ft without issue. Just buy some extra line just in case, it's cheap.

 

well as long as you have the co2 turned waaaay waaaaay down, i think it'll be fine as long as your going to be serving the whole keg. cuz you cant exactly keep it at carbing levels and serve it at that level as well.

 

im sorry, i seem to have been unclear...

the 1' of 1/4" is def. too short... pints full of foam.

what i'm asking is whether or not the 3/16" will fit on the disconnect & tap (b/c there is 1/4" on there now...)

 

It'll fit fine, but you will have to work at it (especially on the beer out post).

 

It will go on easy if you have a heat gun. If not, boil some water and put the tube in just before you slip it on.

 

ok, sounds good. is that how its supposed to be though, or do my disconnect & tap have some weird sized fittings?

 

alright, just wanted to close this thread up by saying that the 10' of 3/16" tubing worked great. awesome pours last night.

i just ended up boiling water and submerging the ends before sliding them onto the disconnect & tap... using a dry, clean hand towel made sliding the tubing all the way up the fittings much easier
