So I just got word from a friend that a London Porter blew an airlock out and foamed up everywhere. It happened yesterday sometime, but no clue as to when. Are we going to be forced to scrap this batch or should we attach a blow off tube and see where things go. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Pictures to come later tonight.

Put on a blow off tube and proceed as normal. There is almost no chance that anything bad got in while it was blowing out. Pictures are required. :D

If it's still foaming out the top, put a tube in. Otherwise just wipe up the mess and put a clean airlock on.

There is so much CO2 coming out during fermentation that nothing bad is going to get into your beer.
