Thanksgiving brewing

After everyone went home I started a brew. A nice Sam Adams Boston Lager clone from Austin. For the first 53 minutes everything went really well, then the fireworks begin. The vent-a-hood fan motor changed pitch. I reached up and turned it off. That didn't work. By now the smoke in the kitchen and dining room was beginning to be very noticeable. I called my spouse in to stir the beer wort while I turned the breaker off. Then I looked in the attic to check everything out up there. Took the wort off the burner and started removing the vent-a-hood. When finished, I put the wort in the fridge. I finished up with the yeast the next evening. Did I boil the right time? I don't know, the timer was on the vent. Did the smoke and fumes ruin my wort? Only time will tell.
Did waiting to pitch the yeast affect my beer? Again, have to wait and see. I do have bubbles in the airlock. If a vent-a-hood and maybe a beer kit is all I lost, I think I had a THANKFUL Thanksgiving. What do you think?

 

smoke? the wort was smoking? or the vent motor was?

 

The vent motor was smoking. It gave up and shorted out.

 

Did you cover the wort in the fridge?

 

Yea. I put the boiler lid over it.
