Does anyone know if there is any nutritional value left in grains after brewing? I know that the most important aspects of grain will hopefully be removed during the mash. But aside from the obvious fiber benefit, is there any other component that is not rinsed out and converted to beer? We have been making bread from our spent grains and I am wondering if there is any nutritional value to the grains or if we only adding bulk. Thanks,

There is a whole crap load of awesome things in spent grant for humans and dogs and mammals but not for birds and and very bad for horses I found out.

I can not tell you what they are though but a I was told by a person that knwos that it's very good for you.

I make dog bones or treats what ever you wanna call them, plus I think they are pretty tastey too... and my dog goes ballistic when she sees the bag and she knows when I am making them.. here is my recipe
    3 cups spent grain
    2 1/4 cups flower
    1 cup peanut butter
    2 eggs no shell
mix well and roll out on a cutting bord to desired thickness cut into shapes or pieces I do squares haha, fill cookie sheet un greased with treats, preheat oven to 350, bake treats for 1 hour then turn temp of oven to 200 bake for another hour, shut oven off and let set over night with treats still in, place in bag and enjoy. ps freeze left over grain in bag so you can make another batch inbetween brew days

That's awesome. Do you blend up the husks or emulsify them or anything. I can't wait to use all that grain for something!

Chickens love them. Gave them a 25lb spent grain bill. I thought it would take 18 chickens severals days. The next day ... scorched earth. Nothing remaining.
