brewed 4 days ago and took my first gravity reading to see how it is coming along. it is at 1.022, looking great but when i tasted it, it had a tart sourness and a starchy taste. my friend commented that it tasted like sour porridge :( hoping that the sourness isnt from some kind of contamination but a by product of the yeast which is wlp300. i also mashed at 147-149 for 50 minutes, conducted a iodine test which indicated that there was no starch in the mash so the starchy flavor doesn't make sense.

let me know what you guys think!

4 days isn't a good enough window to give a beer a taste test. It's likely what you're tasting is yeast bite. Leave it alone for two weeks, take another gravity reading and taste it again.

Most likely yeast still in suspension. Did you let the sample settle before trying it also?
