So what is this white looking stuff in the neck of my carboy? It's not krausen for sure, I guess it could be the dry yeast I used. I hesitate to think infection much less post on here about it, but I'm definitely concerned. Where should I go from here?

Since Saturday around noon. Got a pretty decent fermentation that evening. Has kind of settled down now.

Agree normal, yeast that stuck to the glass when the krausen sunk down. I have a red ale that covered the entire empty head space part of my carboy in yeast crud after it sunk down. Looks like that x1000 you can't event see in.

That's what normally happens with mine. But this one didn't go high enough to leave krausen there and is white. But I'll take the advice and RDWHAHB. Now to convince SWMBO that 9 in the morning is an appropriate time to crack one open.

    Cheers

It's yeast....nothing to worry about....You sprinkled dry yeast into a damp carboy, some of the grains stuck to the neck instead of going down. Sometimes the most obviously answer is the correct one.

That's why I use a small funnel when I drop in dry yeast, make sure it all hits the wort.......

Beat me to it revvs! Tan colored yeast colonies from the dry yeast spritzing the neck on the way down.
