So I brewed this last Sunday and everything went fine I reached my SG etc. However when I went to pitch my yeast "White Labs in a vial" I guess I shook it to vigorously. Because when I opened the cap like 35%-45% of the contents shot out and onto the floor. I added what was left of the vial to my carboy and sealed it up.

So ever since I been wondering if I should pitch another vial? Here is the thing after about 12 hours it started fermenting and it has a decent krausen on it. But normally I see a lot more activity in the carboy and the krausen is normally 2 or 3 times the height it currently is after 2 days. So here I am 2 days later wondering should I pitch another vial? From what I have read there is no negative effects to adding more yeast other than it will cost me more. Feelings, insight anyone?

What kind of beer is it? What's the OG?

It's a Blonde and the OG was 1.046.

If it's fermenting, leave it alone.

+1... just let it do it's thing if it's already taken off. Your pitch rate was probably too low but if it's fermenting then it should probably turn out fine.

So do yeast reproduce if they take off? or is my population set?

They reproduce before they take off.

Thanks again to everyone for input on this. Tried the beer today for the first time and it is amazing. It was my first time trying to make my own recipe and I am very happy with the results. Again thanks :mug:
