I mainly brew pales ales, IPAs and ambers and have started using Nottingham yeast.
An area of my basement seems to stay at a constant 60f and I wondered if this was slightly too cold for the common ale yeasts (1056, w001, etc)
I would like to try some different liquid yeasts and start them at this temp. I can do a diacetyl rest in an other are of the house.
Are there any particular yeasts you recommend. Also are there any others you think could create some different tastes instead of the usual Chico strains.
    Many thanks...

A 60*F basement is fine for Nottingham. That stuff will ferment well down into the mid-upper 50's.

You ought to be OK with the Chico and West Coast ale strains so long as the temp inside the fermenter hangs around 64-65*F during active ferment. US-05/001 can sometimes kick off some peachy character down below 64.

Depends on what you want. 60F is great for Scottish Ale strains, and also great for German Ale strains (Kolsch or Altbier). Notty would also work. You could also try a California Lager strain. Most American ale strains and English strains I try not to go below 63-64.
